As the year 2024 comes to a close, it is a time for quiet reflection on the past year, as individuals, as communities and as a nation. The past year has been momentous for South Africa. Our country’s political landscape has shifted significantly following the national elections in May, and the advent of a Government of National Unity. TUSAM, on its side, has worked hard to contribute to the national conversation, notably with the launch two foundational documents, the Charter of Resolutions, and the Charter of Citizens’ Obligations, in which we call for government to be held to account, and for citizens to engage.
We plan, in 2025, to build on these documents, increase our visibility, and actively participate in national conversations in the media and Civil Society fora. We also intend to fully participate in the planned National Dialogue as announced by President Ramaphosa on 16 December 2024.
More than ever, this is a time for unity and putting our country first. TUSAM will tirelessly work to engage on the ground with citizens around the country, and hold government and public figures accountable.
We wish each and everyone a peaceful festive season, and a positive start to the New Year. May 2025 bring hope to South Africa and its people, and to everyone around the world.
